Technical details
What Promo Desk is built with and how it treats your files. For people who like to know what runs on their Mac.
Built with
| Part | What we use |
|---|---|
| Language | Swift 6 (strict concurrency) |
| Interface | SwiftUI, with AppKit for open panels and Quick Look |
| Project | Swift Package Manager — the app logic lives in a separate module with its own tests |
| System | macOS 14 Sonoma or later · Apple silicon and Intel |
| Third-party code | None. No SDKs, no analytics, no ad or tracking libraries |
Your files
- Promo Desk reads only the folders you choose. The Mac App Store build is sandboxed and keeps access with security-scoped bookmarks, so it cannot open anything else.
- Your listing files are read, never rewritten. The one exception: when you press Mark as posted on a post file,
Promo Desk updates that file's
status:line. - Ticks, folder list and settings are JSON files in Promo Desk's own Application Support folder, written atomically. Export Settings puts them in one file you can move to another Mac.
Network
- Sync Knowledge downloads a public GitHub repository of marketing guides (read only, nothing is sent).
- Buttons such as Open App Store or Open X only open a page in your browser.
- The optional Claude panel starts the Claude Code program you installed yourself, signed in with your own account. Promo Desk has no server of its own.
Listing files
Plain Markdown: one ## Field name heading per store field, the value below it. Promo Desk recognises
fields for 19 stores and 17 launch sites, and flags placeholder text so it never reaches a store.
