Privacy Policy
Haunts (iPhone) · Effective 10 October 2026
Haunts is a personal life log. It works with your location, so this policy says plainly what happens to that information. The short version: your history is stored only on your iPhone. We run no servers, we have no account system, we use no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we never see, sell or share your data.
What the app keeps, and where
| Information | Why | Where it stays |
|---|---|---|
| Location (with your permission, including in the background) | To log the places you stop at and when | Only on your iPhone |
| Motion & Fitness activity (with your permission) | To tell walking, cycling and riding apart and count distance walked | Read on your iPhone; only the results are saved there |
| Photos you pick for a place | To show them on that place | A copy inside the app on your iPhone |
| Emoji, notes and place names you choose | Your memories | Only on your iPhone |
| A Google Timeline file you import | To add your past years | Read on your iPhone; the places are saved there, the file is not kept or sent anywhere |
Your data is included in your iPhone's own iCloud or computer backup if you have backups turned on — that is controlled by Apple and you, not by us.
Apple services the app uses
- Apple Maps: to name a place, the app asks Apple Maps what is near a location (latitude and longitude). Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy; we receive nothing.
- App Store purchases: Haunts Pro is bought through your Apple account. Apple processes the payment; the app only checks whether a subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
- Notifications: the weekly recap reminder is scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent from a server.
- Saving to Photos: when you tap Save image, the app asks to add a picture to Photos. It does not read your photo library.
What we do not do
- No account, no sign-in, no email collected.
- No analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone. We cannot — it never reaches us.
Your controls
- Pause logging any time in Settings, or change location access in iPhone Settings › Haunts › Location.
- Export your whole history as JSON and GPX from Settings › Your data.
- Delete all data from Settings › Your data, or delete the app — both erase everything Haunts stored.
Children
Haunts is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new effective date.
