Privacy Policy
TapRec (Android) · Effective 13 October 2026
TapRec is a screen recorder for Android with a simple video editor. This policy explains what happens to information when you use it. The short version: there is no account and no sign-in, your recordings stay on your phone, and we do not collect personal information on our own servers. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob; TapRec Pro removes them.
Information we collect
We do not collect, receive or store any personal information on our own servers. TapRec has no analytics and no crash reporting of its own.
Your recordings
Videos you record or edit are saved on your phone in Movies/TapRec, where they also appear in your Gallery. They are never uploaded by TapRec. They leave the phone only when you choose to share them (for example with the Android share sheet) or download them to your own computer with Send to computer. Uninstalling TapRec does not delete them.
Information kept only on the device
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Recording settings (resolution, frame rate, quality, sound source, countdown, floating button) | So the app remembers your choices |
| Whether TapRec Pro is unlocked | So ads stay off and Pro tools stay open, even offline |
Permissions
| Permission | Why | When it is asked |
|---|---|---|
| Screen capture | To record the screen | Android asks every time you start a recording |
| Microphone | To record sound from the microphone or the phone itself | The first time you record with sound |
| Notifications | To show Pause and Stop controls while recording | The first recording |
| Display over other apps | For the optional floating record button, face cam and drawing on screen | Only if you turn one of them on |
| Camera (Pro) | For face cam: a small bubble with your front camera, recorded into the video | Only the first time you turn face cam on |
| Internet / network state | Ads, buying Pro, and Send to computer | Install time (no dialog) |
Anything visible on your screen while recording — including notifications, messages or passwords — ends up in the video. Check before you share.
Face cam and drawing (Pro)
Face cam shows your front camera in a small bubble on the screen, so it is part of what TapRec records. The camera picture is never saved on its own, never uploaded and never sent anywhere; it only appears in the video you record. Turn it off at any time from the floating button or Settings. Lines you draw on the screen are also only part of the recording.
Send to computer (Pro)
Send to computer starts a small web server on your phone, reachable only on your local Wi‑Fi network (or your phone's own hotspot), and only while that screen is open in TapRec. The link contains a random secret code that changes every time. Your computer downloads the videos straight from the phone; nothing passes through our servers or any cloud. Anyone on the same network who knows the full link could open it while the screen is open, so close it when you are done.
Advertising (free version only)
The free version shows a banner at the bottom of the video list and the video player, and at most one full-screen ad after you save an edited or compressed video (never while recording, never inside your video). Ads are provided by Google AdMob (Google LLC).
- To show and measure ads, limit how often they appear and prevent fraud, Google's SDK may collect the device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location and device and app information, and may use them to personalize ads.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and other places where the law requires it, TapRec asks for your consent with Google's consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings › Google › Ads (or Privacy › Ads).
- See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
- TapRec Pro removes all ads.
Purchases
TapRec Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. The app asks Google Play whether your Google account owns Pro, to unlock it and to restore it on a new phone.
Children
TapRec is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, email terrynguyen49@gmail.com.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to export or delete; your recordings and settings live on your phone and you control them. Ad data is handled by Google under its own policy, and you can change ad consent in the app as described above. For questions or requests under GDPR, CCPA or similar laws, email terrynguyen49@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
