Cleaner deletes data that websites store in your browser. It does that entirely on your own device. It has no servers of its own, and contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising code. The one network request it ever makes is to verify a Pro license key, and only if you have entered one.

1. What We Store

Here is everything the extension writes to your browser's storage. None of it is sent to us.

To show you what a site has stored before and after a clean, Cleaner counts that site's cookies and measures the size of its storage. It reads counts and sizes only — it never reads, copies, or transmits the contents of cookies, storage, or the pages you visit, and it does not keep a history of the sites you clean.

2. Permissions and Why We Need Them

  • browsingData — deletes cache, cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, Cache Storage and service workers, which is the extension's whole job.
  • cookies — counts a site's cookies so the popup can show "Removed 12 cookies" after a clean. Cookie values are never read out.
  • scripting — runs a small script in the current tab, when you open the popup or clean, to measure its storage size and to clear session storage, which Chrome offers no other way to clear.
  • tabs and activeTab — find which site the current tab is on, reload it after a clean, notice when the last tab of an auto-clean site closes, and power the optional Tab Manager side panel.
  • alarms — runs scheduled cache cleaning (Pro), Auto-Sleep for idle tabs (Pro), and a once-a-day license check.
  • storage — saves the settings listed above.
  • sidePanel — shows the Tab Manager side panel.
  • Access to all sites (<all_urls>) — needed to clear and measure data for whichever site you are on. Cleaner has no way of knowing in advance which sites you will want to clean.

3. Third-Party Services

Lemon Squeezy (license verification, Pro only). When you activate a Pro license, and about once a day while it is active, the extension sends your license key and an activation ID to api.lemonsqueezy.com to confirm the key is valid. No browsing data, site names, page content, or personal information is sent. Purchases themselves happen on Lemon Squeezy's checkout page, under Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy; the extension never sees your payment details.

If you never enter a license key, the extension makes no network requests at all.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

All data lives in your browser. Uninstalling the extension removes it. You can also remove individual protected or auto-clean sites and saved sessions at any time, and "Deactivate License" in Settings removes your license key from the browser.

5. Children's Privacy

Cleaner is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

6. Changes to This Policy

If a future version changes what the extension stores or adds any network request, this page will be updated with a new date before that version ships, and the change will be called out in the release notes.
